Contacting the pharmacy before going
Tell the pharmacist they were referred by 111.
You or the person needing the medicine can call the pharmacy before going to tell them what medicine is needed.
The pharmacist will advise:
- if it is safe to give them the medicine
- if they have it in stock
- what to do if they cannot give them the medicine
If they do not call the pharmacy before they go, the pharmacist will check this information when they arrive.
If the pharmacy has no stock
If the medicine is not in stock, the pharmacist will contact other local pharmacies to find it for them.
It is the pharmacist’s responsibility to help the person get the medicine they need.
What happens when you get there
The pharmacist will:
- check their records to see what they are regularly prescribed
- ask any questions to get any information they need
You or the person collecting the medicine might need to show proof of identity such as photo ID or a credit or debit card.
